Happy Friday!! Ok...so is it wrong??? Your opinion please..

So like I've had this cutie bunny for quite a while. I love his face, his color and the way he stands.

Since my giant yard sale back in October, I have gradually been doing some redecorating. I'm adding in black and some pops of color. I know, I know, don't pass out that "Miss lover of white" is adding color. I'll post more on that later.

So anyway, I purchased this really cool planter box at Lowes on clearance. I've been wanting to display something on my long, dining room table. I put some spanish moss in the box as I love the grey with the black against the color of my table and chairs. I also love the texture. That's as far as it got for two months as I wasn't sure what else I wanted to put in it.

Then the other day, I got a wild hare to put the cutie bunny in it! The decorator in me loved the color combination, the texture combination and the "cottage" feel of it.

BUT THEN!!!  it hit me!!! Oh my gosh!!! Is the real reason I think this looks so good is because of my subconscious bunny mama self???

"Mama, how about some privacy!"

Is it because I spend so much time looking at the bunnies in the Poo Poo Bucket and telling them how good they are for going poo poo in the Poo Poo Bucket!!!

"Sugie go poo poo in the poo poo bucket? What a good girl. Harrington those are good poo poo's you are such a good boy!"

Oh my gosh!!! Bunny parents know that you inspect poo all the time to tell if your bunny feels good or not.

Ok...so you tell me. Is it totally wrong then to have a bunny using the Poo Poo Bucket on your dining room table????  Is it offensive to dinner guests? When I asked David's opinion of my new display he replied, "looks like a bun in a Poo Poo Bucket." Is he just as bad as me??? We are totally crazy aren't we? By the way, we call all kinds of containers buckets. Not sure why, we just do. Again...we're weird.

"Yep, you're weird alright and you're definately NOT getting on HGTV with this one. Just say'in."

Happy Friday everybun!

Non-bunny people won't get it, but i bet bunny people will get a giggle out of it. But then i'm a bit weird and even fake bunnies using a fake poo bucket is cute to me. ;)

It's perfect!! I like the idea of it as a kind of inside joke (as tfangel said), but to most people, it will just look like a bunny in the grass outdoors!

Wrong in so many ways! This made me laugh out loud. Guess we stick to what we know!

Oh Shell - you HAVE to leave it! I love it! And only insiders will get it, and it'll make them laugh. You'll be spreading great cheer!

In just looking at it without the story, I think it looks marvelous. And then with the story, I think it's even more marvelous!

I think its wonderful, non-bunny people won't get it, and most bunny people would laugh i think and it looks great! Wonderful photo of Harrington with his mismatched ears by the way

Love it Shell, just keep an eye that Sir Walter and Sugie don't get any ideas that it's for their personal use too! xxx

Oh, you gave me such a laugh so early in the morning! Too Funny!!

Shell, you are so funny! Did you, by any chance, consider plopping Sugie and her bucket on the table to get a picture?

Maybe to camoflauge the effect of the bucket, you could sprinkle Cadbury eggs around it. After all, it is getting to be that season....

Sherri said...

Shell, you gave me my giggle for the day! I think the bunny looks cute! I would leave it!

Katie :o) said...

Now you just need a couple handfulls of black jelly beans....

Barb said...

You are just toooooo funny.... Since I do not know much about bunny's, I would not know that your bunny on the table was in a pooooooooo bucket....too funny!

Mommarock said...

People who don't have bunnies running around their house will just think it is a decoration. they don't see poo poo bucket.. LOL. Especially if you put other things in the bucket with the bunny..

He is not in the poop poop bucket at all...he is patiently waiting in line for it!

I think the centerpiece is a super idea! And, if you use fabric strips or ribbon...you could put a big pretty bow around his neck, or at his feet for whatever holiday or season it is!

Some lovely chocolate heart candies in the straw...and a bit red bow.

He could be a good "reminder" bunny too..."Valentines scattered in the straw...hello, honey remember what month this is?"

First I have to say this was an adorable and funny post. And if I hadn't read it I would not of known about the poo poo bucket.(grin)..now that I do. I would not be able to get it out of my head if the center piece was left on the table during a meal.
Now let me go back and see what the others have said. Okay I'm back...You've made a lot of people smile today!
Yes I'm one of those non bunny people...but now that I have the inside scoop...I've got the poop. Black jelly beans was an added suggestion but how about raisen-ets...
Have a great weekend!

What a wonderful opportunity to add some flowers to your planter in anticipation of Spring. Then it would not look like a poo poo bucket. Judy C

Oh shel - you're too funny! I think he looks just fine - and at Easter you'd think he was hiding eggs! Sir Harrington is not looking amused in that picture!!

Hef's Mom said...

Well you probably could have gotten away with this except you had to blog about it and now 500+ people know you have a poo poo bucket on your dining room table.
J/K it's pretty cute!

Oh, Shell!! You crack all of us up!! As a non-bunny (but definately a wanna be bunny) person, I saw it and thought - that bunnie is checking out the new decorations in your home, especially the colored decorations!!! Well, and maybe Sugie's and Harrington's poo-poo bucket!!! Its very cute though!! I love Katie's idea of black jelly beans!! Thanks for the big smile on my face!! :-)) Kris

Jessica said...

Too funny Shell! I think the centerpiece looks lovely with the bun in the grass. I also love that photo of Harrington with one ear up and one down. I think Sugie wants a privacy screen. ;)

Jade said...

Don't ask me about whether it's right or not, I'm still giggling at the thought of your husband saying the words "poo poo bucket". That is just not a guy thing to say. :)

Lisa said...

I think Bunny people might have got it, but any non-bunny person who you didn't blurt out "he's in the poo poo bucket!" wouldn't know. They'd just think he's foraging.

If he has tidy litter box habits, then I think it's ok for him to be on your dining room table ;)

Jan M said...

Thanks for the giggles today! I love it as a centerpiece, especially with Spring and Easter around the corner. Many people will only see your creativity, and never associate anything else. I agree with the others about adding a red bow for Valentines and some eggs for Easter, although I also love the simplicity as is!

Debbie said...

I love it! Add something like carrots (you know fake ones) or even fake flowers. It is absolutely gorgeous.

Megan Chamberlain said...

So hysterical. I would not have thought of it until you wrote it but I think it is funny and you should leave it. The display looks nice and who but a bunny person and those in the know would even notice :-)
Love Sugie's photo, my kitties get so embarrassed if a walk past their toilet area when they are busy.
hugs to you and the beautiful bunnies.

I love it, what a cute idea. If you tuck a couple of pretty silk tulips or daisies into one corner, no one will think of the poo bucket!

Unknown said...

You made me laugh so hard I almost had green tea coming out my nose! I never would have thought that it looked like a poo basket but then I don't raise bunnies. However...now that I do know that any bunny in a basket with any kind of moss or paper will have me laughing. I think it's perfect for your dining room table!

StitchinByTheLake said...

If you hadn't told me it was a poo poo bucket I'd never have known. :) I'd find a nice carrot to add to it and let it become a garden! blessings, marlene

What a hoot you are my gal---
I never would of thought of it that way until you told the story!!!!
and guess what---us kitty parents tell our kitties what "good kitty's" they are when they go "poo poo" in their box!!!!
Hugs,di and miss gracie
My word was "equal" tonight to get this to post???

Well, I think it's cute. But I've got some ceramic Easter eggs that would look real cute in there with the cutie bunny and then it wouldn't look so much like a poo poo bucket bunny. LOL.

RG said...

@Hef's Mom - it's worse than that. It's gone viral on the west coast (sorry Shell) and now she can't come this way wihtout a disguise!

Poo Poo Bucket on the table - indeed. Even guys know not to do THAT!

Susan said...

OMG!! I started reading all the comments and came across the easter eggs - yay! clever idea - then the black jelly beans - nah a bit sick once you know that this could be a poo bucket. In Ausralia we keep our rabbits outdoors (well usually as far as I know) so I would never have thought of him in a poo bucket! Its not for me - but I suspect it probably goes well at your place and with your sense of humour!!

Enjoy him - doll him up for each season and do the red bow and red choc hearts for valentine's day, the eggs for easter etc.

I hope you will post a few more pcitures as you change him around.

Brenda Pruitt said...

I think it's rather cute, Shell! And closer to Easter you could put eggs in there. Shoot! There's an idea! Burlap or decoupaged or something or other eggs in there with the rabbit!

I'm still amazed that you can train a rabbit to use a poo poo bucket! Very intelligent little creatures. If anything your centrepiece will be a great conversation topic at the dinner table!

LOL, too funny! As a non-bunny poo poo aficionado I have to say the thought that your adorable bunny statue was pooping on your dining room table would never have occurred to me had you not told me, so I think you are safe in surmising that that is the CUTEST centerpiece I've ever seen! Love your blog, thanks for the laugh! Deb

aaahhhh ha ha ha ha....I had to read this out loud to Jon just now, your so funny.

As a fellow bunny mama, I know exactly what you mean...nice good poops means a nice healthy rabbit...tiny poops means time for hay and some concern...no poop is panic time....and no we're not crazy at all:D

p.s. I think it looks adorable on your table...and the story should give most guests a good chuckle:D

sending love love love your way.
